Arsenal and Scotland fans are claiming that Kieran Tierney is better than Andy Robertson following the Gunners defender’s performance in the 3-0 win over Ukraine. Tierney played 85 minutes as Scotland picked up three points in their Nations League group.
The 25-year-old has only played 42% of Arsenal’s league minutes so far this season, but Scotland boss Steve Clarke has said that he’ll still play him in all three of their international fixtures if he needs to, despite his lack of game time. Tierney started at left-back against Ukraine with Liverpool’s Andy Robertson out injured.
The Gunners defender put in a stellar performance, helping keep a clean sheet against a Ukraine side which featured Arsenal-linked forward Mykhaylo Mudryk. It’s led to both Arsenal and Scotland supporters claiming that Tierney is better than Liverpool left-back Robertson.
@RjArsenalBlog: Tierney has been class. It’s the norm.
@GoonerM90: I know I’m an Arsenal fan but Tierney was fantastic tonight.
@garryThomas92: Play better when Robertson isn’t in the team… Tierney 10x the player.
@AzeezThings: Kieran Tierney comes off with a standing ovation from the Scotland faithful after an absolutely incredible performance tonight.
@MBeatwave: People were so quick to forget how good Tierney is because he’s been out for so long. My left back. #COYG.
@Raffaelopietro: How much better are Scotland without Robertson? Tierney not at his best but still a level up from him imho.
